Easter in Croatia … Meredith and Caitlin style.
Posted in The Croatia Diaries, Videos
Thanks to the glacially slow Internet in our second hostel, I was only able to upload this latest Croatia diary today. Assuming that Youtube, my short-lived computer battery and the hostel’s spotty Internet align — this is, in truth, a rather risky assumption — I’ll also be posting an Easter video this evening.
Until then, I think I’ve got some decent Uskrs photos …

I’m currently snuggled up in the bottom bunk of a hostel bed, surrounded by various camera/laptop/webcam cords, my computer and an annotated city map.
This officially makes me a blogger, right?!
Meredith and I are waking up really early tomorrow to walk the city walls, so I need to go to sleep post-haste. You’ll be glad to know, however, that Croatia is 100% worth all of the zany travel problems we had yesterday. We spent most of our first day here walking the beach, grumbling our way up flights of 13th-century stairs and apologizing profusely to all the Croatians we spoke English to.
It was awesome!! (Seriously.) It’s hard to imagine a more beautiful place — even if it is a little too cool, weather-wise.
There were definitely points in the day when I thought we weren’t going to make it. But one missed plane, two “lost” bags and a security check later, and Meredith and I are, in fact, safe and sound in Croatia!
This trip has already been something of a (mis)adventure — the video is proof — but we found our hostel without trouble, we’re supposed to have nice weather tomorrow and Dubrovnik looks, in the dark at least, like the coolest city I’ve ever been to.
So, you know … all the shenanigans was worth it!
Speaking of shenanigans, I’m going to try to keep a videolog while I’m here. Unfortunately because I have neither the necessary computer programs or a lot of time, you can expect them to be high on irony/enthusiasm and rather low on production value.
… which, come to think of it, is actually a good way to describe this trip.
I think I’m developing a little Windows Moviemaker addiction. Who saw that coming?
This is basically a teaser for tomorrow, when I will (finally) let you know what this Carnival business is all about. Plus there’s a new Culture Shock! on the agenda.
Man, I’m a busy little blogger lately. Do you guys like the new types of posts?
Big day, amigos — and I’m not talking about Carnival. This is my first video post!
It’s admittedly not very good, but I’m just getting the hang of shooting photo and video when I go out. Also I was trying not to fall down the stairs.
Next one should be longer, less shaky and more coherent. Expect it in the mid-week range, once I’m back in Madrid!
